Title

Train BF-1 on Lake Line

Subject

Steam Freight Train

Description

Four freight-only tracks extend westward from the NYC's DeWitt Yards at East Syracuse and skirt the northern edge of Syracuse, rejoining the passenger main at Solvay, on the western city limits. Over these tracks flows an almost incessant stream of traffic, moving to and from the main line west, the Pennsylvania Division south, the Oswego, line north, and the Saint Lawrence Division northeast. Here is an 87-car hotshot passing the yard-limit board, bound for Buffalo's Gardenville Yard and thence west to Cleveland and points beyond. Its Mohawk-type power is no.3120 of class L-4a, dual-service, Lima built, and one of several equipped with Boxpok drivers.
