Title

Train no. 14

Subject

Steam M&E Train

Description

Another look at the 6013 shows the big Niagara easing mail train no. 14 through the rain towards Broadway, preparatory to entering Central Union Terminal. On the rear of the 17-car train were the business cars of President William White and Vice President-Operations Karl F. Borntrager. Passenger and freight traffic on the Detroit-Toledo run and freight transfers between Airline Junction and Stanley use this stretch of double track along with all Cleveland-Chicago main line movements, making it one of the busiest on the system. Slow-speed diverging movements at both ends of Central Union Terminal and at other points make this a real test for the terminal dispatchers. (The third track in the foreground is the Nickel Plate connection.)
