Description

This is Cherry Tree, the terminal at the end of line deep in the Pennsylvania coal country. Two locals operate from here to mines on the Cherry Tree and Dixonville Railroad (jointly owned with the PRR) and to the connection at Manver with the Cambria and Indiana Railroad, Bethlehem Steel's coal-carrying subsidiary. Coal from these sources is forwarded east and north in one or two trains a day, primarily in unit trains to Bethlehem Steel in Lackawanna, N.Y., and to utilities in Rochester, Oswego, Dresden, and points east of Syracuse.
