Description
Mr. R. C. Sweely, friend and business associate of the photographer and native of Avis, stands at the Cherry Tree diesel facility in front of a three-unit Alco consist which shortly afterwards hauled 150 loads of coal out of town on the Cherry Tree-Newberry Junction extra. The crew of this train is the only one which by agreement operates through between these terminals. Other eastbound coal is moved from Cherry Tree to Clearfield by a clearfield crew and thence to Avis or Newberry Junction.
