Title
Pulling Beech Creek local past YA tower
Subject
Diesel Freight train
Description
The GP-7 on the Beech Creek local strains past YA tower on the upgrade to Jersey Shore, with a pickup of coal weighed at Avis constituting nearly all of the 30-car train. This train, now eliminated, ran out of Newberry Junction terminal near Williamsport and served the east end of the Beech Creek branch, turning usually at Mill Hall. The branch has since been abandoned for thirty-one miles between Bald Eagle Junction and Snow Shoe. To put the finishing touches to this mournful statement, it should be noted that the switches at this location are now hand-operated and the tower is gone.
