Title
Train no. 9
Subject
Steam M&E Train
Description
Far more typical of the NYC than any action provided by S-ls is the clattering roar of Hudson 5250 as she streaks through East Syracuse with the fourteen head-end cars of no. 9. Twenty-six years of service and her owner's preoccupation in 1953 with diesels have taken their toli in grime and steam leaks, yet the machinery is whirling at 80 miles an hour and the dispatcher's entries are none the less impressive.
