Title
Pulling second LS-1
Subject
Diesel Freight train
Description
Motive-power progress is evident at the same location in February, 1953, as F-7 units 1806 and 1805 ease the 87 loads and 34 empties of 2/LS-1 towards the westbound receiving yard. This was before the shift in emphasis from tractive effort to horsepower; today this New York-Chicago hotshot rates three units of at least 2500 horsepower each. The F-7 units are still hard at work, but generally in combinations of three or more and on much less glamorous schedules.
