Description
Looking east from the Charles roof, we see the Springfield station and the main line extending eastward through the city. The building in the foreground on top of the station roof is tower 40, which controls the interlockings at both ends of the station. This tower and tower 55 at North Adams Junction are presently the only ones remaining on the B & A, but projects are underway which will eliminate them and place the interlockings under the control of the B & A dispatcher in the Springfield depot.
