From the roof of Hotel Charles in Springfield, we look down upon the B & A main line just west of the Springfield station, Train 28, the eastbound 'New England States', is coming off the Connecticut River bridge across the diamonds at New Haven tower 274. New Haven tracks curve into the depot from the left and Boston and Maine tracks from the right (shortly before this was written, the B & M ceased passenger operations here).
