Subject
Steam Passenger Train
Description
Engine no.6016 of the NYC's great Niagara class leaves East Syracuse in a cloud of soot and dust as she roars thru at 70 m.p.h. with train no. 5, the westbound "Mohawk". This train, a semi-local from New York to Chicago, is one of many on which the road's famous Hudson types have been replaced by Niagaras and, more often, by diesels. Because so many runs have thus been denied them, a large number of Hudsons (there were, at one time, 255 in all) must be in storage or, woeful thought, slated for scrapping.
