Description

Bridge Street Overpass crosses the New York Central at the west throat of De Witt Yards, just east of the modern coal dock, the power plant, and the roundhouses. This picture was taken looking west, with the town of East Syracuse in the right foreground and the city limits of Syracuse at the bottom of the hill in the background. The place is a scene of constant action, and in this instance Mohawk type no.3134 was arriving from the west with an 89-car freight, while sister engine no.3120 was coaling up at the dock and a third 4-8-2, the 3043, was awaiting her turn on the same track. See the next page for the scene on the other side of the overpass, taken less than half a minute later.
