Title

DL&W F units pulling the "Lackawanna Limited"

Subject

Diesel Passenger Train

Description

Lackawanna and Lehigh Valley mainlines cross one mile east of the former's station at Waverly, N.Y., and at the north end of the latter's Sayre, Pa., yards. This picture, taken on a cold, grey winter day, shows deserted Lehigh Valley tracks and the Lackawanna's eastbound train no.6, the "Lackawanna Limited", crossing the bridge behind a 4500 horsepower Electro-Motive diesel. Number 6 runs only eight or nine cars, but the use of a powerful diesel avoids the necessity of helper engines on the heavy grades around Scranton,Pa.
