Title

Erie RR FT units

Subject

Diesel Freight train

Description

These two EMD FT-type freight units are swinging thru a reverse curve at Horseheads, N.Y., with 109 cars of a westbound drag rumbling behind. The units, numbered 703a and 703b,were originally delivered in 1944 as four-unit, 5400-horsepower engines for duty between Marion, Ohio, and Meadville,Pa. Alco-G.E. machines of 6000 horsepower have taken over the latter duty, and the FTs have been transferred to less rolling terrain east of Hornell,N.Y., and divided into halves for drag work.
