Description

The seldom-seen array of steam power provoked another picture at the same place. Like the one preceding it, this shot was taken from Bailey Avenue bridge (it may be remembered that two pictures of the main line, previously shown, were also taken from Bailey Avenue; that particular location was several blocks south of the present one). The West Shore mains are on the left, and the DL&W fill and bridge are visible a short distance down the tracks. The locomotives above are the same ones identified in the preceding scene, though arranged somewhat differently. The photographer believes that the 5436, in the center foreground, outlasted those of her brethren gathered here; she was retired at Airline Junction roundhouse in November, 1955.
