Description
The New York Central's heavy-duty Pennsylvania Division freight line runs thru hilly country in southern-central New York State, which means severe operating problems for the company and spectacular action shots for the railfan. From Dresden the line climbs steeply southward out of the valley of Lake Seneca thru Himrod Junction, Dundee, and Watkins. From Beaver Dams, beyond Watkins, it drops steeply down to Corning in the Chemung River valley. Above are Mohawk types no's.2607 and 2756 slamming thru Himrod Junction with a southbound extra of about 80 cars.
