Diesel Freight train
Description
Shortly after the preceding picture was made, the camera catches A/LS-1 from the west window of the tower. This train, a poor relation compared to 1/LS-1, will have its 42 loads and 54 empties humped at Gardenville (manifests such as the forwarder train merely change crews and cabooses and get a running inspection). There is quite a descending grade into Gardenville from here, and the engineer on the pair of EMD units heading A/LS-1 (nos. 1813-1814) is employing the dynamic brake to hold his speed below the maximum of 30 MPH. The succession of bridges over the Gardenville branch in the background represent the following arteries of transportation, from front to rear: the Lackawanna Railroad, the Erie Railroad, State Highway 130, and the Lehigh Valley Railroad.
