Description
The sixteen-story tower rising from Central Terminal affords an excellent view of the trackage of this vital section of the Buffalo Division. Here is the scene looking east. To identify the locality in relation to those previously shown, we can pick out Bailey Avenue. bridge, which is in the distance just below and to the right of the top of the power plant stack, and also the Erie R.R. bridge in front of it. Advancing along the tracks in the direction of the camera, we see the coach yard, the coach shop, with tower 48 just to its right, and the Pullman commissary. ' The shadow of the tower partly covers the east-end terminal yard office, sandwiched between tracks 19 and 20, and points to a three-unit diesel making the first of two doubles in the Stock yard with XN-4, which had 150 cars on this occasion. The maze of yard trackage beyond includes FS, Storage, Train, House, Ice House, Transfer, EA, and Shop yards, with the East Buffalo car shops bringing up the rear in the right background.
