The photographer was still perched on DL&W property for this undertaking. NYC mains 2,1,3, and 4 are in the foreground, across Broadway. Beyond are the west throat of VI yard - the cut of cars is on track 1 - and the West Shore connecting tracks. Engine 5201 is backing down the westbound connection, enroute from the West Shore roundhouse to a tour of duty on a terminal work train (these were the waning days of steam in this area). The cars passing under the DL&W in the far left background are on the West Shore (note the lower-quadrant semaphore, typical of the DL&W).
