Description
Looking northward along the aforementioned DL&W fill (this was taken from the same spot as was the preceding photo), one sees a jumble of curving tracks which appear to the uninitiated eye to wander aimlessly, and which indeed typify the lack of purposeful pattern in the East Buffalo pocket yards. These tracks are identifiable as follows, from left to right: the west- and eastbound connections between the West Shore (in the background) and the main line (behind the photographer); a lead from three pockets, out of sight in the right background, known as the Grain yard, SY Hole, and previously-mentioned HC; a five-track pocket known as the Valley; a seven-track pocket called the Coopering yard; and, finally, the Lumber track (unaffiliated!).
