Title
Train no. CC-3, coal tower and interlocking tower (on stilts) in view
Subject
Steam Freight train
Description
Westbound manifest CC-3, 68 cars behind L-3c 4-8-2 no. 3062, whistles through Greensburg at the maximum 40 MPH. The tower here controls the crossing of the main line and the Michigan District, and also governs main line movements at the end of double track (the railroad from Cincinnati to Indianapolis is mostly double track, with short stretches of single track between Greensburg and Clifty, 14.5 miles, and between Vine and Dix, 14 miles). The track in the foreground above is the continuation of the westward main as the westward siding. Double track ends just east of the tower, and the train in the vicinity of the tenth head car is swinging through the crossover where the westward main merges with the eastward.
