From the steps of B Tower, the scene to the west includes the freight leads, in line with the camera; the passenger mains, curving across to their right; and the Jackson-Elkhart main in the right foreground. Traffic is stopped on Main and Middlebury Streets as the G&M loop local departs behind GP7 5742. This run traverses the Jackson main as far as White Pigeon Jct., continues east over the Elkhart-Toledo Old Road branch to Sturgis, turns south on the Goshen and Middlebury branch to Goshen, and returns to Elkhart on the Toledo Division main line.
