Title

Train no. 46 passing Oakdale Interlocking Tower

Subject

Steam Passenger Train

Description

A maintenance of way gang doing some hand surfacing in Oakdale interlocking stands back as big no. 6011 barrels past with no. 46, the Interstate Express. This train is primarily geared to the Chicago-Boston business, and after extensive switching at Buffalo the majority of its twelve cars will continue through over the B&A. Oakdale, 1.8 miles east of Toledo station, is where trains for Stanley Yard and points beyond to Indianapolis and Cincinnati diverge from the main line onto the C&O, and it also controls the west entrance to East Toledo industrial yard. The C&O connection is on the left and the yard lead is just right of center, followed by mainline tracks 4, 2, 1, and 3, in that order.
