Train no. 303
Identifier
NG507032
Title
Train no. 303
Subject
Steam Passenger Train
Description
No. 303 leaves Toledo on this occasion behind J-1 no. 5389, one of the thirty Hudsons (no's. 5375-5405) which were assigned when new to the Big Four and which originally carried numbers 6600-6629. This train requires six hours and forty-five minutes to traverse the 270 miles between Detroit and Cincinnati, with twelve stops enroute. Hardly the sort of high-stepping associated with the Water Level Route, for which the Hudson type was designed.
