Description
Western boundary of the Lines East is the Niagara Frontier, railroad center of the Niagara Frontier is Buffalo, and classification hub of this NYC terminal is modern Frontier Yard. Here is the east yard at Frontier photographed from Harlem Avenue bridge, just east of the hump. From right to left, tracks are as follows: mains 2 and 1, South 1, South 2 (with train PS-10 from Youngstown being shoved towards the hump caboose-first), E 1, South lump Lead, North Hump Lead (occupied by the Fairbanks humpers in the foreground), E2, E3, and the East Runner. Track 3 in the south yard extends from the lower left corner to the short ladder at center. The main line crossovers in the background, remotely controlled by the dispatcher in Central Terminal, are referred to as 'HA' in the operating timetable.
