Description

The camera records a little of the scenic desolation of River Line country from the cab of the rear unit of the Cherry Tree-Newberry extra. The 150-car train stretches out of sight around this typical bend in the West Branch east of Mowry. Except for Jeep trails, the privacy of the wilderness along this piece of railroad is invaded only by State Highway 879, which crosses the river at Karthaus and parallels it for several miles west of Croft, about ten miles out of clearfield. The only humanity in the 22 miles between Karthaus and Keating is a family of ragged, barefooted squatters living in an old section house at Spruce.
