Steam Freight Train

Description

Engine 3049 of the L-3b class Mohawk type heads west into the evening sun, with her 72-car train inching out of DeWitt Yards behind her. Freight tracks here run in an alley formed by the engine terminal on the right and the village of East Syracuse on the left. The highway bridge in the background is the vantage point from which several pictures herein were taken, including those immediately preceding and following this one; moreover, it can be seen in the pictures on two succeeding pages as well as this one.
