Pedestrians walk unconcernedly down the sidewalks(if their paths are not blocked) as Erie train no.1, the "Erie Limited" bound for Chicago, halts at Corning station. Three-unit EMD diesels like the 806 pictured had been in service almost two years when this was taken, and were no longer objects of curiosity to the local populace.
