Description

For the second time, the scene shifts from one section of the Buffalo Division to another. We are now back in East Buffalo near the eastern limits of the division, but this time the westward picture journey resumes along the West Shore tracks. From Harlem Road bridge, we can look west at West Shore yard, which consists of eleven tracks north of the mains and five south of them (the latter tracks are called, collectively, the 'mountain'). This yard is used to make up interchange cuts for the Pennsylvania and the Baltimore and Ohio - the former are run once each trick, and the latter once daily on second trick. It also classifies cars moving to and from industries in the immediate area and on the Belt branch (live industrial pullers daily work out of here). In addition, the yard handles cars moving from the East Buffalo-Black Rock area to Gardenville for coopering or westward forwarding. The only road trains regularly yarded here are BB-6, the intradivisional run from Suspension Bridge, and RG-9, a switch run from Rochester.
