Description
Thru Dundee,N.Y., there is a short break in the otherwise sustained southward upgrade from Dresden past Watkins Glen station, on the New York Central's Pennsylvania Division. Above is Mohawk type no.2622, throttle wide, charging thru Dundee at 40 m.p.h. with 117 empty hoppers and a similar pusher, the 2642, bringing up the rear. The pusher will be cut out and turned on the wye at Beaver Dams, nineteen miles south of here, where the tracks dip sharply downgrade for the last twelve miles into Corning. Dundee is on the periphery of the Penn Yan-Hammondsport grape-growing area, and many of its farmers are engaged in that business.
