Title
Pusher on southbound extra
Subject
Steam Freight Train
Description
Rear-end action view at Himrod Junction is of a class L-1a Mohawk, no. 2523 (the NYC's first of that type), assisting an 80-car southbound extra in approximately the same spot shown in the preceding photograph. On the head end are Mohawks 2655 and 2796, which will go thru to Corning; the 2523 will drop off on the fly near Watkins and back down to Dresden for another uphill push. Himrod Junction telegraph station is in the left background just beyond the bridge, which carries NYC tracks over the Pennsylvania's Williamsport Sodus Point line.
