Title

Train no. 137 passing under Lehigh Valley and PRR truss bridges

Subject

Steam M&E Train

Description

Mail and express run no. 137 sports a doubleheader of tremendous speed potential, S-1 6017 and J-1 5263, as it quickens its warmup pace near the west end of the Buffalo Division preparatory to entering the Erie Division racetrack at Bayview. This picture is somewhat complimentary to the foregoing one. It was taken from the bridge carrying the Seneca yard-Gardenville branch connecting track, looking in the direction of Seneca. The LV and PRR bridges over the NYC are in plain view, as are the bridges of the same roads over the paralleling Erie and NKP, further to the right. Freight mains 3 and 4 from Seneca yard are in the foreground, and the stubbed west end of the middle siding is a short distance east. This area is the beginning of the village of Blasdell, which borders the city of Lackawanna on the south.
