Title

Train no. 74, depot in view

Subject

Steam Freight train

Description

Her whistle screaming in reproach to a venturesome motorist, the 3115 talks it up at Anderson depot on her way through town with no. 74. Her train, including sizeable Marion and Wabash groups on the head end, consists of 55 loads and 10 empties totalling 3683 tons. As noted before, the Michigan District main parallels the Ohio Division passenger line past the depot, crossing it one block west at KY. The Ohio Division track runs next to the depot platform, below, while the Michigan District track is, of course, occupied by no. 74. Since Ohio Division freights normally operate via the belt through South Anderson, no's. 74 and 75 are fortunately the only tonnage trains which regularly run along this stretch, infested as it is with street crossings.
