This picture shows the high tower and the junction of rail lines at its base to good advantage on the left, no. 303 is leaving the depot bound for Springfield and points south to Cincinnati. The train has eight cars and is pulled by J-1 no. 5384. The line to Cleveland, marked by the westbound home signals for both mains, recedes into the right background under Sandusky Street bridge. The depot is just to the left of the tower. The line to Toledo is hidden behind no. 303; the westbound home signals for this line protrude slightly above the tank of the 5384. The line to Indianapolis curves off to the left between the wire fence and the building beyond it, and the line to Cincinnati is, of course, in the foreground. The "mill track" runs behind the tower and connects with the eastbound Cincinnati line main just out of the picture in the left foreground. Its extension from Auburn street (the crossing in the foreground) connects farther south with what is left of the former Toledo and Ohio Central branch from Marysville to Bellefontaine. The latter has been abandoned, but a short stub remains on the Bellefontaine end, serving several industries. The 40-mile segment from Bellefontaine to St. Mary's - is still intact and supports a local freight six day a week (this branch runs off the southbound Sandusky main at Columbus Avenue, a short distance north of the tower).
