Facilities

Description

Here are the diesel shop and fueling facilities as viewed from the upper floor of the hump building. At the pumps are F7s 1870-2455-1679, in off an extra from Toledo, and farther down on the same service track are Alcos 10323308-1077 off BC-5; on the adjacent south service track are EMDs 1778-2434-1633 off 2/SCN-2 from Blue Island, and no. 2 ready track holds sisters 1710-1748-2410-1758 off PC-1 from Youngstown, Ohio. (Arrivals and departures at major electronic yards usually involve a great variety of origins and destinations.) In the background, the six-track eastbound departure yard, the Early Bird fast freight track, and the main tracks are all clear (a rarity).
