Description

Trailing the power by 126 carlengths, DN-l's caboose passes the Adams Center station. The conductor leans out to get his copy of the pull-in message. The second main track to Watertown is now gone and the station is closed, but despite the drastic shrinkage of facilities in this territory, the NYC does a brisk freight business today in the 'North Country'. Aluminum plants at Massena and Rooseveltown, an auto parts plant at the latter point, a paper mill near Carthage, talc mines near Governeur, and the Benson Mines ore pit are the principal contributors.
