Title

On train NH-4. Alco F units in view

Subject

Diesel Freight train

Description

This view of Selkirk yard from the west side of Jericho Bridge takes in a lot of activity. In the right background is the diesel fueling station. The four Alco units at right center are power for New York-bound NY-8, while alongside them Fairbanks units 5003-5100 ease out of the eastbound class yard with the 48 cars of NH-4, a turnaround local to North Adams Junction (Pittsfield) on the B & A. Just above NH-4's diesels in the distant background is the westbound advance yard. The eastbound fast freight yard is to the right of the watertank, while to the left of it the reefers of NY-8 are visible on the ice track, with the ice plant beyond them in the distance on the far left. Virtually all of the complex of eastbound trackage pictured here is now gone.
