Title

PRR class I-1s between helper assignments

Subject

Steam Locomotive

Description

Here engine 4640, panting after her long push of 35 miles from Elmira on the rear of extra 4578 north, stands on the main line at Himrod Junction while her crew picks up orders in the telegraph station behind her. Most likely she will back up to Watkins Glen or Elmira for another helper run. There is a connecting track between the Pennsylvania and the New York Central at this point; Some PRR coal drags out of Elmira are destined for DeWitt Yards, Syracuse, and are run over NYC rails from here thru Dresden and Geneva.
