Description
There is a considerable expanse of marshland extending in from Lake Erie south of the Buffalo River. It has been filled in a great deal to accommodate railroad rights-of-way and yards, grain elevators, industrial plants, and urban areas. The NYC crosses this expanse between FO and the vicinity of tower D (Seneca), about four miles. This is the view east from a point near BC tower, looking down the main line towards the drawbridge - the latter, with RB tower to its left, can be seen behind the signal mast. The cars on the eastbound main are part of SLD-6, which has stopped to make a setout in Buffalo yard. The Fairbanks-Morse yard diesel and the cars on the track next to it comprise Job 20, an inter-yard transfer run which operates out of Black Rock to Buffalo and Seneca yards. The crew are returning to their train after having spotted some loads of grain at the Concrete Elevator, across the marsh to the left. Their next stop will be Seneca yard.
