Train crossing Chicago St with watchman’s tower. The train is a 57 car eastbound on the Michigan Central main, but at this location the railroad runs compass north, so the photo looks southeast. At this point there are four tracks that cross Chicago St. Front, Pullman-Standard (Haskell & Barker) track connecting north plant and south plant. Second track Chicago Indianapolis & Louisville (Monon RR) branch between Monon Indiana and Michigan City. Then the rear two tracks are the Michigan Central Eastward and Westward mainlines.
