Title

M&E train no. 43

Subject

Steam M&E Train

Description

The mighty 6020 is shown here as she starts the 15 cars of mainline local no. 43 out of Newark. The Pennsylvania branch between Elmira and Sodus Point is visible in the background on the left; it bridges the NYC in the vicinity of the rear car of no. 43's train. A wye has recently been built in the northeast quadrant of this intersection. It is only used at present by an NYC traveling switcher running between Lyons and the orphaned industrial trackage at Newark, but it is part of a merger plan by which PRR coal traffic moving from Williamsport to Sodus Point would move over NYC tracks from Avis through Corning and Lyons to Newark.
