Title
Train BV-1 passing bracket mounted semaphore signals
Subject
Diesel Freight Locomotive
Description
Although the basic mainline operation is still double track with automatic block signal rules, there have been substantial physical changes on the Boston and Albany Division in recent years. In this photograph, train BY-1, with Fairbanks-Morse units 5008-5103-5015 and 82 cars, leaves West Springfield MA yard for Selkirk through the interlocking at tower 43. The tower is now gone and the switches have been converted to hand-throw with electric locks. Incidentally, the diesel units have also been retired.
