Steam Passenger Train
Description
Number 416 leaves a sweeping vista of midwest farmland behind as it! approaches Lebanon from the west behind PT-tendered J-1 no. 5269. Although this train was not scheduled to stop at Lebanon, its wheels were in the grip of a heavy service application at the time, prompted by the 20-MPH restriction for all trains over the Central Indiana crossing. The latter is an aptly-named short line which runs due east for 42 miles from Lebanon to Anderson. Its president, vice president, general manager, superintendent, master mechanic, et. al., are located in Anderson, but, like many other short lines in similar situations, its financial officers are in far-off cities. The tip-off as to the identity of the CI's masters comes from the fact that its treasurer has his office at 466 Lexington Avenue in New York, and its secretary and comptroller have theirs in the Suburban Office Building in Philadelphia. The little pike connects with each of its giant parents at both ends of the line.
